The Server Administrator’s mission is to manage our global clients and IT Convergence’s operating systems infrastructure according to documented procedure and policy. ITC Support Services runs a global 24X7X365 Hosting and Managed Services environment. The successful Server Administrator is aware of the need to address global 24X7 support in an on call rotation in addition to addressing production support work activities as necessary.
Reactive maintenance is critical to the success of the Server Administrator, but proactive and preventive maintenance to avoid critical server and operating systems issues before they actually become critical customer events that require reactive work efforts and activities.
A Server Administrator's responsibilities typically include but are not limited to:
-Regular checks of systems/software recommending system changes and patching that will result in overall system improvements.
-Implementation, management and analysis of customer backup architecture and schemas to troubleshoot and provide ongoing support.
-Installation and configuration of new system hardware and related equipment both remotely within a customer’s location or within the ITC Data Center.
-Willingness to address ongoing projects including the overall management of the customer and internal systems monitoring solution.
-Operating system upgrades, migrations from like servers to like servers or from one platform to another.
-Software Package Administration may include the verification and documentation of software package documentation as well as inclusion or removal of software packages.
-Server System Security may include changing ownership of files and directories, assigning or removing server-related permissions, and providing security to insure compliance can be achieved.
-Provide estimates with high level action plans for any work that is required or recommended for customer approval to proceed.
Languages:Â Excellent communication skills in English required
Communication Skills:Â Excellent written and oral English skills are an absolute requirement. Individuals with Spanish language communication background are encouraged to apply, but candidate must be fluent in English first and foremost.
Technical Skills:
-10+ years of solid experience in System Administration preferred in any or a combination of Linux, UNIX, HP, Solaris, AIX
-Additional experience in MS Windows system administration a plus
-Knowledge over SAN and Netbackup technology a plus
-Experience in supporting systems running Oracle Databases and Applications is preferred
-Experience with backup schemas, policies and tools is required
-Shell, Perl, or other scripting language experience is required to address scripting support requests
-Veritas Suite (Volume Manager, NetBackup, Cluster Server) experience is required to address and support customer backup architectures and activities
Personal Skills:
-Multi-tasking is vital to the success of this role
-Problem solving skills required to be able to address the diverse needs of this position
-Proactive documentation and work required to avert critical issues
-Team player must be able to positively interact with all facets of the IT Convergence organization, from the company owners to the interns
