Electric car from India REVA i model will be on display at our meeting on 21st July 2010
The REVAi is a small 3-door hatchback measuring 2.6 m (8 ft 6 in) long, 1.3 m (4 ft 3 in) wide and 1.5 m (4 ft 11 in) high. The car can accommodate two adults in the front and twochildren in the rear. The back seats can fold down to provide cargo space. The maximum passenger and cargo weight is 270 kg (600 lb).
The REVA Electric Car Company (RECC) is an Indian company based in Bangalore. It is primarily notable for manufacturing the world´s best selling electric vehicle. On May 26th 2010, India's largest sports utility vehicles and tractor maker Mahindra & Mahindra announced of buying a 55.2 percent controlling stake in Reva. Following the deal, the Bangalore-based company will be renamed as Mahindra Reva Electric Vehicle Company Ltd with Mahindra’s president of automotive business Pawan Goenka becoming the new company’s chairman. The deal now puts Reva's ties with GM for the production of e-Spark in doubt.
